Abby visits the dog park

The weather was so gorgeous today that mommy and daddy took Abby to the dog park in the morning. It's a gorgeous off-leash dog park that is well maintained and completely fenced in so all the dogs can run and play as much as they want to.

And I had to stay home! I can't believe they didn't take me with them. They said I was too small and that I would bark at the other dogs.

Hmph! Well of course I would bark! How else would they know I was there?

Anyway, Abby had a lot of fun. She ran around on the trails.

Daddy played fetch with her in an open field. Daddy said it was a good thing the park had plastic bags because Abby decided to do her doggy-doo business at the park.

This is her second visit and mommy says she still is incredibly submissive when other dogs approach her. Daddy thinks if they keep bringing Abby to the park she'll get better at playing with other dogs.

They should just let me go with her! I know how to play with other dogs. I bark and bark and bark at them. Sometimes when they turn around I nip at their back leg. Mommy says that's not playing and that's why she won't let me go their.

But it's okay. Mommy and daddy took me for an hour walk in the afternoon. And guess what? Abby had to stay home! Ha!

It's Sophia's Barkday!

Thank you for the barkday wishes! I'm now six!

This is me on my first day with mommy and daddy. I was kinda scared but they held me a lot and let me run in the grass and told me I was beautiful and they were so glad they found me.

At first I was best buddies with Brandi. Mommy says I terrorized her, but I was only playing. See how well we got along?

I remember how sad mommy was when Brandi went to doggie heaven. And for a long time I was the only dog in the house.

Then last year Abby came to live with us. Mommy laughs because she says that Abby terrorizes me the way I terrorized Brandi. But it's okay, because we're best buds too. See?

I know that my mommy has been really bad about helping me update this blog. She's been really busy with a new job so she's been kinda lazy and only puts stories about me and Abby on her sewing blog every Thursday. Did you know there's a group of knitters and sewers who show off their dogs on Thursday?

Enjoying a snooze on a cold winter day

The winter and snow have been here for a long time and I'm kind of tired of it. Abby doesn't seem to mind the cold weather. She's always scratching at the door to go outside. I much prefer to snuggle up on Abby's big bed and take a nap - especially when the sun shines on it. Sometimes I even let Abby join me :-)

(Did you miss us? You can blame mommy - she's been sooooo busy that she didn't have time to help us update our blog.)

Abby's first snow

Abby: Um, mommy? Where's the green stuff? I have to do my business and I can't find the green stuff! . I'm not even six months old yet I don't know what this white stuff is. Can it hurt me? If you come outside with me I promise I won't be scared. I think I'll just sit here and wait for you.

Abby: I bet this white stuff is food! Yummy! And look at all of it! I'm not going in when mommy calls or it might be gone the next time I go outside.

Sophia: Sheesh, it's just snow. I don't know why Abby is getting so excited over it. It comes every year and it stays for a really long time. I'm glad mommy made me a fur coat because that snow is cold!

Sophia: M-o-m-m-y! Abby's trying to get my fur coat! Tell her to leave me alone.

Abby and Sophia: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Abby graduated!

Before graduation Abby got to play with the other puppies in the class. Then she had to show the instructor that she knew the commands sit, stay, down, and come. She also had to do a trick. Daddy tried to make her do the army crawl but she didn't do very well. So then he tried to get her to shake and she didn't do very well at that either.

But they let her graduate anyway.

Poor Abby. She graduated from puppy training and now mommy and daddy are making her go back to school for something called basic training. I sure hope they don't make me go!

Meet my doggie cousin Lucky

Lucky came to visit me and Abby today. She's a Beagle and she's three years old.

We went into the back yard to play but Abby and Lucky kept running to door. They didn't realize that my mommy and Lucky's mommy had brought the treats outside.

I figured it out right away. But I am pretty smart. Plus I'm the oldest.

Here's a picture of me and Lucky. I just finished eating a treat so my tongue is out. It's not the most flattering picture of me but it's a good picture of Lucky.

I hope she comes back to play real soon.

Abby needs a new bed

We share our toys - I'm okay with that. It's actually kinda fun having a puppy sister around.

But now Abby has decided that my bed is her bed!

And she's too big for my bed. I told mommy that Abby needs her own bed. What do you think?
